Primary Drive Clutch
An affordable replacement for the stock primary clutch. Complete billet design that out performs the existing primary. Using STM adjustable supertip cam arms with the Rage 3 is the perfect recipe for your stock or modified Can Am. These STM clutches will fit under the stock cover with no interference. The Rage 3 is capable of using most cam arms that are available on the market. STM incorporates a fixed pin design that pivots the cam arm between two bushings and attaches the cam arm to the pin providing more durability to the cam arm pivot points. All parts are replaceable and stocked.
The cover is designed to use Polaris ATV springs which provides a wide variety of spring rates to choose from.
The Rage 3 comes calibrated with a spring and set of STM adjustable supertip cam arms.
Includes a new bolt for installation.
Each clutch is assembled and setup to run the BRP OEM belt
This primary will work with the stock secondary.
**When ordering please use these guidelines to help choose your options or contact us with further questions**
Choose Engine HP – Let us know about your bike - Is it naturally aspirated/stock? Big Bore Kit? Does it have a turbo? If you choose turbo-how much boost? This gives us an idea of how to set the weights up.
Secondary Driven Clutch
Choose a helix angle - The most popular helix is the 45°. It’s a good all-around helix. It works best for the average to aggressive trail rider.
Number of shims – The number of shims installed will determine your belt deflection or how tight the belt will be between your primary and driven clutch. Keep in mind when setting the deflection, it is for a stock belt. If you are installing this with a stock primary clutch or the new STM Rage Gen 2 with the smaller 1-way or 2-way bearing-choose 3 shims. If you are installing this with an older STM primary clutch with the larger 2-way bearing-choose 5 shims. The more shims you add the looser the belt, less shims tighter belt. NOTE: You want to have your belt as tight as possible without the bike creeping forward while in gear at idle.
Choose a post length - Choose the long post if you are running this with a stock primary OR choose the short post if you are installing it with an STM primary-recommended for optimal performance.
Choose a spring– The most popular spring for the stock Renegade and Outlander 800 is the PS7 yellow. This spring works well for most average to aggressive trail riders.
STM also offers the option of an encapsulated helix design that keeps the driven from unloading, opening and going into high gear during breaking and jumping which some racers require.
Can be used along with the stock primary or the STM primary. Best results are acquired when running both the STM primary and STM tuner together.
Comes with a belt removal tool and bolt for installation.
