Customized Strength for the Way You Ride
Our Can-Am Commander 6” GDP Portal Gear Lift doesn’t make your ride one particular way. It lets you ride however you want. Choose a 30%, 45%, or 60% gear reduction for more power to the ground. Boost your strength, power, and performance to the max by choosing dual idler gears. With the ultimate portal gear lift, there’s no adventure too big for your Commander.
What is a Dual Idler®?
Perfection takes time. After years of research and development, we’ve made our dual idler gear portals unlike any other. By placing a second idler gear in the portal box, the load gets spread over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and the strongest gear set you can get. Two idler gears don’t do a thing if they’re not mated perfectly, though. Precision CNC grinding ensures ours do. Our gears are made from the industry’s toughest 9310 steel alloy. Didn’t think dual idlers mattered? With GDP’s quality and experience, they finally do.
Perfect Wherever You Ride
Portals and mud are a perfect pair. That ground clearance gives you room for those big mud tires you’ve been eyeing, and a 45% or 60% gear reduction gives you the torque to turn them through the thickest peanut butter mud. If you prefer trails and keeping the throttle wide open in high gear, go with our 30% gear reduction. You still get tons of punchy torque, but you’ll maintain a higher top speed.
A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain
Portals reduce the stress on your axles, differential, prop shaft, and transmission by having the gear reduction right in the hub instead of the transmission. That means you get to have more fun than stock while doing less damage than stock. It’s a win-win.
GDP Portals Are Stronger
GDP doesn’t settle for less and neither should you. Our portals are built to be the strongest you can get so you can ride with confidence. Our cast and billet aluminum housings are tough enough to take on hard rides. The portal backing plates that hold your suspension and your hub together are made with an advanced alloy steel. At 5/16” thick, they’ll outlast your machine’s lifetime.
- Our housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow
- Advanced steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly
- Enhance with Portal Blood—gear oil formulated for GDP Portals
- There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
Advanced Gaskets, Seals, and Bearings
Our portals use:
- Advanced gaskets and O-rings with excellent oil resistance and low deterioration rates
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
- Double-angular contact output bearings to prevent premature wear
- Roller idler and drive bearings to maintain perfect gear meshing
2011-2020 Models Get Extended Trailing Arms Designed for Rhino Axles
The 2011-2020 Commander portals utilize 4” extended rear trailing arms that give you stability and room for larger rear tires. They require Rhino or Rhino 2.0 axles because they give you the articulation you need to get wild with that 4” longer wheelbase. Plus, our axles give you chromoly strength that can’t be beat.
Complete the Package with a Frame Stiffener
Portals and monster tires are fun, but they can place additional stress on your machine’s frame. To make your suspension bulletproof, consider adding a SuperATV Frame Stiffener when you check out!
